The BA History students of PUP have attended the 6th ACAS International Conference on Asia at the Ricardo and Rosita Leong Hall, Ateneo de Manila University on July 29, 2012.

This year's theme, Nature and Culture: Environmental Issues in Asia, have extracted various topics which included culture of disaster and historical change in Singapore, politics of land/riverside transformations, approach to environmental pressure, community success amidst natural calamities, and the global governance of external accountability in foreign aid for disaster management.

The papers presented resulted from the researches conducted in the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia by scholar-presenters from Philippine and foreign universities.

One of the lecture-presenters was Dr. Theresita Atienza, former dean of the College of Science of PUP, who talked on the title "Against All Odds: Khiriwong's Creative Community".

By studying particular cases, the lecturers attempted to present fresh insights about the convergence or relationship of nature and culture and its role in environmental issues, specifically in disaster management.

The BA History students were accompanied by Prof. Raul R. Sebastian, chair of the Department, Prof. Mc Donald M. Pascual, Prof. Anna Rose Hull, and Prof. Jayson Payumo.
